Review of Therabox: a subscription box for self-care - June 2018 box

It's been almost nine months since I last updated. No, I didn't have a baby. I've just been incredibly stressed and busy. I've been taking pictures and trying out things but haven't had the time to actually make a post, but now my queue is getting so long, I need to start making a dent in it.

Speaking of stress, Therabox is a subscription box that I decided to try out for myself. I like its premise of promoting self-care and making sure you carve out time in your days for yourself. So far, I have received three - June 2018, July 2018, and August 2018.

Here's my first box, the June box!

A list of things included in the box!

Info regarding promotions and giveaways.
Per the brochure, here are the things I received with my June 2018 box:

  1. "Spread Good Vibes" kit by The Happy Shoppe
  2. Rutz Naturals "In Your Face" Facial Mist
  3. Pure Elements youth exfoliating botanical mask
  4. The Innate Life rose hair elixir
  5. Ivy Creek Gardens ocean breeze candle
  6. Manna Kadar "Brow Boss" brow pencil
  7. The Happy Shoppe "Good Vibes" magic pouch
  8. Tru Beauty "Choose Joy" tangle ease
  9. The Happy Shoppe "Spread Good Vibes" kit
1.  "Good Vibes" kit - Letters to write to myself, a loved one, someone who inspires me, and a stranger came in the form of some cute stationary!

It really made me think. There are a lot of things I wish I could tell my past self, but I think the bottom line for me was to learn how to stand up for myself, be honest, and not be so desperate for other people's approval. For "a loved one," I decided to write to my dad, who passed away last February--things I never got to say to him, and things I want to reiterate. My mom is certainly someone who inspires me, and I had a lot to say to her too--and I actually ended up telling her what I wrote in the letter in person. I have yet to write the letter to a stranger, but per the instructions, I am to find a random address to send this postcard to. I really like this idea!

2. "In Your Face" facial mist from Rutz Naturals

I love this facial mist. It wakes me up, and it smells of a delightful rose. It's quite refreshing! You can use code THERA25 for 25% off of their products online. It's a nice pick-me-up to have at my desk at the office.

3. Youth exfoliating botanical mask by Pure Elements
This mask doubles as an exfoliant and turns a cool purple color when it's used. Per the Therabox brochure, it's formulated with antioxidants (organic matcha and organic rosehip powder) to help slow signs of aging and combat UV radiation damage. Hibiscus flower powder helps exfoliate the skin and stimulate collagen production. Code: THERA20 for 20% off of their site! It also smells great.

4. Rose hair elixir by The Innate Life - I actually forgot to take a picture of this! Kicking myself. I did end up using all of it. It made my feel more moisturized, and I noticed less dryness at the tips of my hair. It's a small bottle with a dropper to apply the elixir to your hair. You can use code INNATE3 for 15% off of orders over $50.

5. Ocean breeze candle by Ivy Creek Gardens

I LOVE wood wick candles - the crackling sound reminds me of a small fireplace. This particular candle also had a great, strong fragrance, but not in an overwhelming way. Most scented candles I use tend to be very subtle, but this one smelled great! I'm going to buy more for 20% off by using code: THERABOX20. This is actually probably one of my most favorite candles I've ever had, ever.

6. Brow Boss brow pencil by Manna Kadar - I forgot to take a picture of this. I personally prefer the Anastasia eyebrow pencil, but this Brow Boss pencil is a double-ended pencil with a very light, pale color and a mocha-brown color on the other end. I'm not sure if they gave me these colors based on my personal skin tone, or if this is the color that went out to everyone. I myself have pretty black eyebrows (since I'm Asian). The lighter tip helps to outline around the brows, though.

7. "Good Vibes" magic pouch
This is a magic pouch because it can go from being a legit tote size to folding back up into how it is pictured here (Smaller than a sheet of A4 paper). It's a good way to carry around make-up or stationary supplies!

8. De-tangling brush by Tru Beauty

This brush is uniquely structured to detangle your hair, with soft bristles and an ergonomic shape. It can be used on wet or dry hair. It does do a better job than other brushes at going through my hair! I'm not so sure about "seamlessly" combing through tangled hair, but it definitely is more effective than your average brush.

If you want items from past boxes a la carte, TheraBox gives you the option to buy past items from their online shop.

I really liked my box! Along with FabFitFun, this is probably my favorite subscription box. You can go month to month for $34.99, pay for 3 months for $99.99 ($33.33/box), pay for 6 months for $191.94 ($31.99/box), or pay for 12 months for $371.88 ($30.99/box). Renewals are automatic, regardless of which plan you sign up for. If you no longer want to subscribe, you can cancel any time before your renewal date based on whichever duration you chose. Stay tuned for my reviews on the July 2018 and August 2018 boxes. All I can say for now is that the products are getting better and better!
