Magnetic Lashes by Silly George - A Review from a Girl with Small Eyes and Barely Any Natural Lashes

Image
A review TL;DR is at the bottom. I kept seeing these adverts all over Facebook, and I finally caved and decided to buy some, because if I continue to spend as much money as I do on temporary extensions, I'm gonna lose a fortune. They did seem pricy at first glance, but as you can see on their site , the more you buy, the more you save. 1 is $24.99, 2 is $22.99 each, 3 is $20.99 each, 4 - 9 is $19.99 each, and 10+ is $17.99 each. Plus--there's a promo code 'SAVE25' that gets you an additional 25% off of the price. I opted to buy 2 pairs of 'Dailies,' 1 pair of 'Originals,' and 1 pair of 'Dramas.' With the bulk pricing (4 pairs for $19.99 each), and then another 25% off with the 'SAVE25' promo code, my total came out to $59.97, with free shipping. Despite what I saw on some reviews about how they took forever to arrive - I ordered mine on Friday, April 19, and received them on Wednesday, April 24. Really quick shipping!  Yo

Review of Therabox: a subscription box for self-care - June 2018 box

Image
It's been almost nine months since I last updated. No, I didn't have a baby. I've just been incredibly stressed and busy. I've been taking pictures and trying out things but haven't had the time to actually make a post, but now my queue is getting so long, I need to start making a dent in it. Speaking of stress, Therabox is a subscription box that I decided to try out for myself. I like its premise of promoting self-care and making sure you carve out time in your days for yourself. So far, I have received three - June 2018, July 2018, and August 2018. Here's my first box, the June box! A list of things included in the box! Info regarding promotions and giveaways. Per the brochure, here are the things I received with my June 2018 box: "Spread Good Vibes" kit by The Happy Shoppe  Rutz Naturals "In Your Face" Facial Mist Pure Elements youth exfoliating botanical mask The Innate Life rose hair elixir Ivy Creek Gardens o

My Review of Getaway.House in DC - 'Glamping' at its Finest

Image
I've never been one for camping, but I do love the outdoors. Being from the D.C. metropolitan area, I've been in dire need of a reprise from my full-time job, three part-time jobs, and general humdrum of daily living. Enter Getaway House ! Getaway basically builds glamping (glamorous camping) trailer-houses in the woods. It's currently in Boston, NYC, and DC. The houses are all in a campground that falls within a 2 hour drive of the aforementioned cities--far enough to remove yourself, but not so far that you feel like you're running away from problems or anything like that. At $125/night for 2 people for the nights we chose, it's a pretty great value for the experience. There are 2- and 4-occupant homes. The 4-occupant homes have bunk beds, while the 2-occupant homes have a queen sized bed. Arriving  My boyfriend and I arrived at our Getaway House rather late at night (check-in was at 3pm, but we were caught up in work and errands for a majority of the d

Odoban - The BEST Pet Stain Remover

Image
So many dog parents can understand the struggle of finding a stain remover for those accidents our fur-babies have on carpeted areas. I have a senior dog, Hambone, who is a half-basset hound and half-long-haired dachshund mix. He recently turned 12 years old--which means he's bound to have some accidents here and there. I've tried a bunch of stain cleaners out there. I thought I had found salvation in this spray, Folex, that I originally found at Bed Bath & Beyond. But, if a stain ever got more than 2 hours old (which sometimes happened, i.e. if he had an accident when I wasn't home), it didn't work as well, and I would still see a hint of yellow left behind in my beige carpet. I also tried Nature's Miracle, Resolve, and Woolite OxyPet. They all had the same issues. My room mate also has a cat who tends to eat Hambone's food and throws it up later--so whatever spray I was going to get next, it had to be effective on vomit, too. Enter a trip t

SmileDirectClub - Part 3 (halfway done!)

Image
So, I started SmileDirectClub back in May of this year. It was a fairly easy process to get started, although customer service could have been approved upon. It was hard for me to find the office because it was in a WeWork coworking space where all the offices looked alike, and the customer service representative I called ended up not transferring me on accident, so I was just stuck on the phone with her while she was blissfully unaware of my shouting for her attention as she talked to her coworker. I don't know how other SmileDirectClub office locations are, though, so I hope that not everybody had as difficult of a time as I did. I received my kit  shortly after my appointment and got started in early June sometime. I posted an update after 4 sets (out of 13 total) so you could see my progress. Today's post is about how it looks after 7 sets! So I'm a little over halfway done, and I'm pleased with the results so far! Again, this is how my bottom row of teeth loo

eBay sucks now - scammers, outdated platform, fees, and more

I've used eBay a few times to sell old phones, a laptop, and some other miscellaneous items. Then I found the joy of selling on apps such as LetGo and OfferUp as well as the legitimacy of Craigslist (I was always kind of sketched out by it before) and the emergence of Facebook Marketplace, along with apps like LetGo, poshmark, Wallapop, OfferUp, and other similar apps . The last time I really used eBay on the regular was around 2013. In February, my dad passed away, leaving behind two cars--a 2008 BMW 750Li and a 2006 Jeep Liberty 3.7L. I thought I could get more money if I were to auction the cars off on eBay than to set a price for it and try to sell it that way. It was my first time coming back to eBay in a few years, and boy, have things changed. First of all, you can only have so many listings a month before you have to start paying to be able to sell. So if you happen to list an item, and it "sells," only for the buyer to end up backing out of the sale--it s

Crab Dip with a kick

Image
I go crabbing pretty often in the summers, as it was a tradition my dad started with me in childhood. I live in northern Virginia, and it's an hour or two drive to the nearest Maryland state parks to catch the beautiful swimmers, Callinectus sepidus (blue crab). I saw this recipe on Epicurious , but I made some tweaks to it. because I had 8 ounces of cream cheese instead of 4, and I had a shit ton of crabs I caught. Mind you, this is a pretty decent serving. I would say it's about 3 times what you get at restaurant. It fit nicely in a 10" diameter deep circular pan. Ingredients: 2 cups (16 oz) of lump crab meat 8 oz cream cheese, whipped 1 cup mayonnaise 1 lemon (for 3 tbsp lemon juice, 1 tsp lemon zest) 1/4 cup minced onion 4 tbsp minced chives 3 tbsp minced garlic 1/2 tsp seafood seasoning (old bay, whatever) 3 tbsp panko breadcrumbs 1/2 tsp paprika 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper olive oil or butter Process: 1. Whip the cream cheese. If you just took it
